I have a personal account with EE and EEBB. I work for a company and are trying to partly reimburse me for calls/BB usage that I have made using my personal account.
In order to do this they require EE to provide a VAT invoices of my latest bill, (which they will use to reclaim a percentage of VAT from HMRC).
I have received a paper bill (which I have had for the price of £3 English pounds), to only find that no vat details or number are recorded.
I have tried to speak with EE and have said they are unable to provide this information as my account with EE is personal and not a business.
I’ve referenced the 1994&1995 VAT Act, but to no avail!
How can I get this information? I don’t see the type of account as a problem, (even my Milkman sends me invoices with VAT breakdown!)
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

This isn't very helpful as switching to a business account costs a lot more money a month. I thought if a company is registered for VAT they need to be able to show the VAT number (which I think yours might be IE as based in Ireland) as a minimum but also the VAT element of the bill if inclusive of VAT? How can we escalate this as I'm sure there are lots of businesses in the UK who reimburse mobile phone expenses for their staff and require a VAT invoice to do this. Switching to a business account is not a good option.

Are you VAT registered? If not as per the below there is no law stating they have to provide a VAT invoice.
"Contrary to what you might expect, there’s only one situation where you’re required by law
to issue an invoice, that is where you and your customer are both VAT registered."

Hello - I am self employed and use my phone for business use, I am VAT registered and need to receive a VAT breakdown on my bill. I do not need or want a business account. How do I receive a VAT receipt please? (I have been with EE / Orange since 1996!) Thank you

@jimcarmichael : You can't with EE unless you take out a business a/c.
