If you log into the EE app or EE account online you can view your upgrade availability. If you are showing as eligible to upgrade when placing the order the friends and family discount will show in your basket if this is available for the new contract.
The returns pack will be sent separately to the the upgrade, you will have time to set up the new phone and can return the old device once you receive the returns pack in the post 🙂
