Hello everyone,
I’ve recently purchased a PAYM SIM only contract from EE website three days ago. I wanted to cancel this contract within the cooling off period and have it switched to PAYG, and connected to an advisor about that.
The first advisor told me they cancelled my contract, and to switch to PAYG they transferred me to the PAYG team who then told me they’d be able to switch it on 26/07 since there’s a 30 day notice period. I’m confused because in 30 days I’ll be off of the cooling off period? I thought I could’ve cancelled my contract within 14 days of purchasing but now I’m told it’ll be in a month’s time. So which information is correct?
If they cancelled my contract today, will I be billed until 26/07 before they switch my number to PAYG?
I’d appreciate any information you can give me, thank you very much!

If you cancel the contract under 14days statutory "change of mind", you are cancelling the contract and relinquishing the number.
You cannot do this and also retain the number. All the subsequent misadvice appears to flow from this. The only exception would be if this was a 30day notice SIM-only, rather than a 12 or 24month minimum term one.
What was your minimum term?

Hello,
It was a SIM only contract for 12 months.
The first advisor told me they cancelled my contract and it was all through before connecting me with the PAYG team. But then the PAYG advisor told me it’ll be switched to PAYG on 26th of July.
Is my contracted now cancelled or not? Or will it be cancalled on the 26th of July?

There is no account access on this forum, and I'm just a user like yourself - I have no idea about your individual account!
I'm explaining the process that would apply here. If you've got a 12month minimum-term plan, then you can either use the 14days "change of mind" right of return to cancel the plan outright (and just pay for what you've used), or you can see the minimum term out, and give 30days notice at the end of month-11, to then convert to PAYG.
