Upgrading from 24 month sim only plan to new iPhone & Sim plan

I'm 5 months into a 24 month sim only plan. I'm considering upgrading to a new iPhone & Sim plan.
Would I be able to do this without incurring a bill for the remaining months of my original sim only plan?

@JimmiChargrill  If you are a new customer in this sim only you can only upgrade to a full device contract after 6 months.  You’ll not have to pay off the remaining term of that sim only.   If you want you to do this now you might have to.
