I am slightly confused by wording in the check out process, and was hoping someone could do a sanity check for me.
I am currently on 'Essential SIM Unlimited £32 6MHP'
I am 6 months into a 24 month contract, and the 'half price for 6 months' is about to expire.
The upgrades page is suggesting I can upgrade today with no fee.
An upgrade, by definition, is something thay replaces the older version. So when I go through the checkout process and see an offer for £21 for 6 months (£42 after), it would reduce my monthly cost for 6 months and then I could look to change again, then.
However, the first line of the Ts and Cs, says 'this is a new contract in addition to any current devices on the account.' If it is in addition, I don't need two contracts, and it isn't an upgrade, it's just an additional contract.
Can someone please help me clarify, am I being offered a second line for no reason, or will the new contract replace the old one (with no exit fees on the remaining 18 months).
Officially the new contract is more expensive (over 2 years) than the current contract, so EE are better off financially offering the upgrade, but in the short term it's better for me to keep switching, if it does replace my current deal.
Please help!!

Hi @ConfusedShopper It's great news that you're looking to upgrade your sim only deal with us.
It sounds like you're selecting an option to add an additional contract on to your line rather than upgrade your existing contract.
Have you logged into your online account before you select the upgrade deal? If not, I'd recommend logging into your account first, then select the sim only deal that you'd like to go for.

Hi Chris,
I was logged in, and that is the wording that comes up at checkout.
are you able to confirm, does choosing the new sim deal through the 'upgrade' feature, replace the contact currently in place?
Thanks!!

Any upgrade replaces the old contract with a new contract & term while keeping the same mobile no.
