Received letter but I do not have an account or purchase with EE

Hi,

So today I received a letter from EE saying my direct debit is all setup, along with an invoice of a mobile phone (samsung and a contract with it for £1424 in total. Now I have no contract with EE, I did not make this purchase for either of these things. I have no idea why it is addressed to me. Could this be a potential scam or have EE just sent it to the wrong person? Apologies if this is in the wrong chat.

First thing I noticed is, Does EE send Letters out confirming a Direct Debit? I've never had one in all my years as a customer, Email? Yes, but not a physical letter

Maybe EE can chime in. Does the letter have number to call, if so what is it and maybe a member of staff can check its a legit EE number.

@killyouridols08 : They have to to present the cust with the DD Guarantee.

@XRaySpeX  Fair enough,  can't ever remember getting one physically posted though

@XRaySpeX  @killyouridols08  Never had a letter via post also.  It’s always been an email and now with documents within the account.

@MichaelS1923  you need to call EE customer services about this.  Try this number 0800 9566000

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I can confirm it is a scam. I checked the number it said to call on the letter and was a mobile number. Googled it and many people saying its some Indian call centre pretending to be EE. Though I have to say they've put a lot of effort into making it look real.

Hey there @MichaelS1923, I'm glad to hear that you've managed to get to the bottom of this one!

What was the number that the letter advised you to call?

I'd still recommend giving our team a quick call on the number @Chris_B mentioned so we can be 100% sure.

They'll be able to check your name and postcode in our system and say for sure if there are any matching accounts, as it's always best to be cautious with these kind of things.
