Price increase on bill confusion

Morning all, long time listener, first time poster

So bit of confusion with my payment that has come out of my account for my most recent bill.

I am out of my fixed term contract so essentially 'out of contract' and was aware I would receive a price increase from '1st March' the pounds and pennies etc.

My billing cycle is at the 10th of the month and so I think (unable to actually view my bill for some reason) that this extra charge was added to my bill which was for the cycle on the 10th, which then physically came out on the 17th.

The confusion is;

1. That the EE website says that this amount will not come out until after the bill on the 31st (although this doesn't seem to make sense as the price rise is on the 1st March)

Once your minimum term has ended, the increase to your monthly price plan will take place on 1 March.  You will be able to see your new charges starting from your bill on from 31 March.

2. That the bill was actually more that the price increase expected (it should have been just £4 but was instead about £5, is this owing to my cycle being on the 10th and I have also had to pay the missing 10 days retrospectively? I havent in previous years when I have had a price increase (and was also out of contract then), the increase has only been effective from my payment cycle onwards, although I realise things have slightly changed from this year.

I'm not so much worried about the cost of the pay increase more that if there are other unaccounted for costs on my account I'll need to call in and spend half an hour on the phone to customer service to see what these are for, as I have done nothing to create the extra costs so am concerned of some concerning activity.

TIA

A general point, but you never had a fixed-term contract - if you did, your service would have been disconnected at the expiration of it, and charges would have stopped. What you have is a rolling contract with a minimum-term - it only stops if & when you explicitly give 30days disconnection notice.

By means of answer to your question, the price rise kicked in on March 1st and your bill cycle is 10th-9th. You are correct to assume the £5 increase is made up of..

£4 increase from March 10th bill cycle onwards

Approx £1 increase covering March 1st-March 9th, charged in arrears on March 10th bill.

Ok thanks and yes I am on a rolling contract, I just worded it poorly

I really appreciate your response but the ee website seems to contradict the above which is why I was confused.

Thanks

Can you post a screenshot and/or a link to this?

When does this change happen?

During your minimum term, the increase to your monthly price plan(s), add-ons, out-of-bundle charges will take place on or 31 March. You will be able to see your new charges starting from your bill on or after 31 March.  Once your minimum term has ended, the increase to your monthly price plan will take place on 1 March.  You will be able to see your new charges starting from your bill on from 31 March.  The increase to add-ons and out-of-bundle charges will still take place on 31 March.

I don't think that's accurate either.

My March bill had exactly what yours did, i.e. the increase of full-month plus pro-rata for the start of the month. Neither fit with that help page!

Thanks, yes thats what confused me!

Also the pro rata part for the start of the month also didn't work out exactly correctly in line with the rest of the price increase

Are you also on a rolling contract?

Anyone any ideas on this?

Thanks so much for flagging the information on our help page, I have passed feedback on @Johnno99

I can confirm that our Pounds and Pence contracts increased on March 1st which is why this is reflecting on your March bill.

If you want to discuss your bills and your current plan please give us a call and our customer care team who have account access can help further.

Katie 🙂

Thanks Katie,

So just for clarity, should the bill which came out for March 10 include both the price increase (in advance) and also the pro rata amount for the prior 10 days?

Again I am on a rolling contract.
