Told the tablet was free  but I think reading I could have got reduced plan. The staff at E were whispering, “ is that your third to day, pointing at tablet”  . Before that they tried to sell me a sim. They  to,d me these were the only ways to lower my phone plan

Hi Leanne,

I went back to the store and it was explained to me that the tablet was free.  The Customer Service guy was very helpful and gave me time.

Checking my bills from the previous year at home later, I saw that it had only gone up by the £6 -7 which I was told at the time of sale.

I still dont think it is clearly explained to customers.  In my humble opinion, the second number on the bill should be explained during the sale as well as the fact that the tablet is linked to the account holder.  I was initially going to gift the tablet but changed my mind.

On the whole, I am happy with the way things are.  The matter is resolved.

Kind regards

Bandele

Just happened to me today, came away with a tablet, was lied to from start in store I now know. That early upgrade bus subject to conditions of higher tariff £67 a month, then I said online I could pay upfront , and he acknowledged and said £45  which I said was a better deal. He then added but only if I took out a 30 day sim and cancelled later on, then I could reduce by including a sim and then cancelling sim , , then he said if no extra sim £57 a month, then said getting a free tablet freeI

I wanted lowest monthly charge and at no point was offered as I now know. I could have got £45 a month and no extra sim or tablet. There was lots of whispering amongst sales staff and thumbs up pointing to tablet and little laughs comparing how many customers they had conned They implied that I could not decline tablet and just take reduced phone plan. That this was best deal. Realise now the free tablet was always part of the scam

fraud

will be returning to store and if no refund and amended plan then to the regulators, and anyone interested, local mp,  all the way

and not renew my kids contracts

Mis sold .. more like a scam as it was lie after lie as I questioned plan price,, then noticed that the whole Wandsworth store was in on it, as if it was a game, constant secret conversations, then at end they didn’t try to hide, pointing to a tablet, high fives and how may customers they had all conned

Changed conditions each time I questioned, making it seem like it was legitimate but just up selling when I made it clear cost was important . Told me cheapest and offering me a new bundle deal that doesn’t exist

not letting them get away with this

Yes if they don’t try to distance themselves from store corruption. Which was the message I got earlier. Won’t let this go

Hi Claireatkinson,

Thanks for starting this thread.

I'm just about to go to the store that has mis sold me a Galaxy A7 Lite Tablet which is still unused .  Like you, I was lied to in November 2022 of getting a free tablet when upgrading my mobile phone.  My intention has always been to use it like my children's Apple Tablets with wifi.  Never even knew that it has a sim card.

I only found out by mistake when I got the Mobile Price change notification that listed another number with a £11.70 monthly price plan.  I called EE on 150 and told by "Darren" to go and sort it out in the store.

It is my believe that it is a deliberate con.

As no one has reported being successful, I do not hold much hope of a result today.  If i get no joy, I will follow up with the advice given on this Which link - How to complain if you've been misled by your mobile provider - Which?

Thanks once again to all contributors to this thread.

Did this get resolved? Realised they've done same to me. Told me was free and included in my new plan completely, got my first proper bill and trying to charge me £9.90 a month. I'd have said no if they told me that'd happen as i wanted to reduce my bill, said I could only increase not reduce till contract runs out.
