I’m was put on a business plan when I am a personal user

About a year ago, I discovered that I was incorrectly placed on a business mobile contract with EE, even though I am (and always have been) a personal consumer, not a business customer.

I never requested or agreed to a business contract. This appears to have been applied in error, and I’m concerned about how this happened and what impact it may have had on my account, billing, and consumer rights.

I would like help with:

Confirming why my account was set up as a business contract , Having my account corrected to a personal consumer contract , Ensuring any differences in charges, terms, or rights are reviewed and resolved.

Could someone please advise on the correct steps to get this fixed, or escalate this to the appropriate team?.

Thank you.

It's an odd scenario here - a business account can hold both personal or business-plans, but not the other way around.

I'd be interested in the naming convention that your account is held in, as a way of telling whether it's a sole-trader or a limited-company setup.. but to solve this, you need to contact EE-CS on 150.

They have access to your individual account, and can both confirm your setup and hopefully credit check you back to a personal account instead.

Business accounts can be in the name of a sole trader or a limited company, but normally some business-ID is required. A sole trader is not a legal entity and thus proof of a bank account in the name of "Joe Bloggs trading as Fred Bloggs" can suffice, but a limited company is a legal entity of itself and will have been credit checked as itself. What format of name is on your account, that makes you think you have a business account?

When I go to look at add ons for my phone contract it’s says that the store is unavailable for business plans. Aswell as on the EE website in the top corner it says switch to a personal plan.

I have had this same issue for the past 2 years, luckily my Contract is 3months out of contract now which is good, however still listed as a Business user and still being charged the full £159 a month for 1 phone and watch both 3 years old now, EE CS said it was no bother and wouldn't switch me to a Normal Contract, Always great fun 😕
