How can I cancel my EE contract online?

I need to cancel my contract as it’s ending next month and it’s in my ex partner’s name and I have no contact with him at all. How would I do this?

EE's mobile contracts are not fixed term ones that automatically cancel on a particular date, the natural extension of that would be an automatic loss-of-service to all phones whose contracts have "ended". At the end of the minimum term, phones still work and have service, but 30days disconnection notice can be given (if wanted) without any early-termination-charges applying.

If you stop paying the bills from your account, then the standard collections process will apply. You may receive some text reminders for late payment, then late payment charges may be added and your line restricted to incoming calls only. After more time, the line may be suspended outright and then disconnected completely. The costs and implications of this would rest solely with the account holder.

I would recommend perhaps writing to your ex-partner to advise of your intentions, to give them the opportunity to take appropriate steps to avoid implications to their credit file for non-payment. But then "crack on" as you see fit. You've not mentioned any desire to keep your existing number, but be aware that a 30day disconnection will result in that being lost.

Any contract that is in your ex-partner's name, regardless of whether it's with EE or whoever, is not yours to cancel but is their responsibility.

You've not mentioned who is making payments, but if this is yourself and you no longer want to pay - then simply stop doing so. Any issues that result from non-payment would then be the account-holder's problem.

The only issue I see here is what contact addresses EE hold for either you or your ex-partner. You may find a complication with being financially linked to your ex-partner if certain liabilities were shared at the same address.

I make the payments they come out of my bank account as I switched it to mine when we split up. The contract was taken out with his address as we didn’t live together. The contract runs out next month and I want to cancel the direct debit from my bank account after the last payment as I’m going to take out my own contract. Will he get billed after this or will they just cancel the contract?
