So I have been paying £68 per month after the end of my contract. In effect for SIM only. I note that EE are quite happy to let this run even though this amount previously covered the cost of my handset. They even sent me a text to say that it would continue after my contract ended (how kind). When I went to Europe for 10 days it increased to £97 for a month.
Now, through Moneysavingexpert.com, I have a better deal; including free European roaming for £8 a month! It's with O2 in case you wondered.
So £97 down to £8. saving £89 per month at best or £60 at worst.
Just thought this was worth sharing.

Make sure that O2 offers the same coverage & service levels throughout the parts of the UK that you frequent.
There are SIM-only plans available on MSE for less than £8, but they may not suit everyone. Great if they do you.

@Hubcap So the terms of the contract that was agreed to by you was honoured. You could have upgraded to a sim only, only now can you take out a contract where the device and tariff was billed separately. When you took out this original contract this wasn’t available so you got billed for both on one bill.
