First bill nearly double

I got my IPhone 11 Pro Max delivered on Sept 24th. I had been on a pay as you go sim after my last contract expired in 2021. I have had my first bill taken today and it’s £153?! My contract is £77.

I’ve had a look on my bill and it says £151 for the first bill, then minus 20% (£38.01) and one picture message. So it looks like it partly hasn’t applied the discount, but still why should I be paying so much more for the fist bill? It says the bill was generated on Oct 24th so exactly 1 months after I received the phone, so it’s not extra days, there was no early upgrade, I paid for the device deposit when I placed the order. So either I’m missing something or this bill is very wrong.

@anth_1985  you do not pay in arrears you pay in advance so what you’ve got is a bill from when you got the device and a bill for the month ahead.  You pay pro rata

Oct 24 Bill = 1 month in arrears from Sept 14 + 1 month in advance to Nov 23. So double your normal monthly fee. Your next & subsequent bills will be just for 1 month in advance + any out-of-allowance.
