Disputing a 'charge to bill'

Question: I've just came off the phone to a guide who advised it's not possible for EE to dispute a transaction with Apple and that I need to go back to Apple, is this correct?

My Apple One subscription is billed to my EE account, which has been fine until last month when I upgraded my sim only plan to include Apple One, but my Apple One subscription (billed by Apple) was also charged, basically I got charged twice, even though Apple support previously advised that the EE one would supersede the Apple direct one.

Fast forward a few calls and disputes with Apple support and they are now being unhelpful and have declined my refund request, along with the appeal.

An Apple specialist told me to refer it to my bank. I tried this today and EE have advised I have to go back to Apple.

Have I lost out on £18.95? I'm also aware that Apple have strict policies with charge backs and will freeze/ban your Apple ID if you complete one, so I'm probably going to have to take this on the chin...

The basis of "charge to bill" is that you pay for products via your EE bill instead of another payment method. Credit cards have additional legal protection, but EE are acting as a payment handler in this case and this is not a scenario where joint & several liability (as in S75) would apply.

My view is that your dispute is indeed with Apple.

@jon_1103  It’s down to you to terminate your own subscription charges that you setup with 3rd parties.  Taking out a EE tariff that has this subscription as part of it doesn’t override or replace your own subscription with that service.  You’ve been billed correctly by Apple because didn’t stop that subscription. Apple don’t owe you any refund.

Thanks for the replies.

Apple told me in advance how the switch over would work for the subscriptions and they’re now being awkward and stating they can’t refund me.

I was intrigued if it was possible to dispute it via EE.

 I’ll go back to Apple then.
