It would depend on what was agreed with the Guide that you spoke to, I have seen occasions where they have set up to get back in touch with the customer on the date to get it all sorted.
This may not be the case with whoever you were speaking to, so I would be prepared to call them just in case. I would advise to call them from the Pay Monthly number currently on your account to be replaced, and then give them the details of the PAYG number that you want to bring across on top of that one.
They should hopefully be able to get you sorted.

Hi @Cat36
Thanks for reaching out to us on the Community.
Could you confirm are you porting a number over from your brothers account? Or are you trying to do a change of ownership so the number on your brothers account then gets added to your existing account?
Thanks
Ritu

I believe I did a change of ownership - my brother was there with me - the person said something about pay as you go and 30 days - I just wanted to know why it takes 30 days

It's not possible to directly port a number on the same network, particularly if you have your own account currently and want to bring another EE number across onto it.
What can be done instead is to move the number to PAYG and then transfer it over on top of an existing contract line on your account.
Moving a number to PAYG requires 30 days notice, in the same way as a contract cancellation notice, and once this has been done your number can then be transferred on top of an existing line on your account.
This process differs from the typical "change of ownership" process but will ultimately get things sorted for you.

Thank you for clearing that up - do I need to contact them after 30 days or will it just happen??
