Hi All,
I am always wary of calls out of the blue, offering better prices and services... call me a sceptic.
EE just called today, out of the blue, from a "private number" offering a reduction in my monthly bill and a new SIM card (same number), which will improve my reception issues.
Has anyone else had one of these calls?
Is it genuine? How can I be sure?
It was supposedly from the EE promotion team.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Calls from EE would send caller ID, and certainly wouldn't hide behind a withheld number. A new SIM has nothing to do with improving coverage (which it wouldn't do), and everything to do with giving you a new number for (most like) extra commission on a new connection.

I had these calls today also, said they needed to send me a new SIM card immediately as I had such bad reception - so I kept pretending I couldn't hear him! I cut him off so he called back on another mobile number and was stroppy so more alarm bells. He wanted my email address, address, you name it. Checked the numbers, the landline was a scam number and the mobiles were linked to O2
The numbers were:
07514 487626
07720313975
020 8058 0483

Hi @n1c0.
Thanks so much for coming here and reporting this with us.
I'd recommend also reporting this by texting CALL followed by the number to 7726.
Our back office team will then be able to look into this further.
