Account Holder Unable to Cancel

My parents have been trying to cancel their data-only SIM for several weeks. First, they visited in-store and were told they could only cancel over the phone. When calling up, the caller was unable to locate their account and hung up on them. After several calls, they worked out that the original EE team member who signed them up in-store has input incorrect address details, so they managed to find the account that way after several attempts.

The person on the phone told them that they can only cancel through the EE online portal. But they have NO login details for this - they never signed up online and I have checked every possible email account and have been unable to find any welcome email, so there is a potential that the email attached to the account is also incorrect.
As their child, I have access to my personal EE account, and can see all the details of my parent's data-only sim on my.ee, however since I am not the account owner, I cannot cancel this myself.

How can we proceed? We have looked at cancelling the direct debit, and EE disputed this even though after many phone calls they have still been unable to cancel our account?
We only have the final 4 digits of the account number, the phone number for the data sim, and the payment details as reference - all other details appear to be incorrect in one form or another based on how the store member input the data on signup.

  1. You can't cancel online. You need to call CS.
  2. If their no. is on your EE a/c, you are its A/C Holder & may cancel it.
If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

I don't believe I am the AC holder - specifically, from my EE portal, many options such as view billing/cancel account/update details are all overlaid with the message "Your account holder can change these settings". Since we cannot get access to this account, we're at an impasse how to get into the account or how to get the necessary details to provide over the phone to cancel the contract.

Although the online account may show only the ac holder can make changes, this may be due to the way the online account was initially set up- you may have selected the option of "user only", rather than "account holder".

The name on the monthly bill is the actual account holder, irrespective of who uses or pays for it.

As you have a payment reference number, it may be worth giving Customer Service a call on 150 from your mobile, where a guide will be able to check if the account is in your name and pop you over to the disconnections team to give your request.
It should also show the "mobile" number of the data SIM on your online account, which you can also quite when you call up.

Keep us updated with how you get on.
