broadband throttling

Hi

I've was previously with BT and then switched to EE and received a new router several months ago and ever since then when i'm working from home using he VPN the speeds are extremely slow to open documents and applications.

I mentioned this to my IT department who have said that EE could be throttling the traffic or that there is a setting on the router which is doing this.....as an example doing a speedtest on my work computer i'm getting 100mb download and 72mb upload whereas if i do a speedtest on my phone which isn't connected to the VPN i get 592mb download speed and 112mb upload

any advice would be appreciated

thanks

@nick_1982  EE are not throttling your traffic your VPN by your own test is having an effect. EE can not do anything about the speed you receive when using a VPN as it’s going via the VPN server who can limit your network speed

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Hi @nick_1982

When you connect to a VPN your speed is dependent on the server and service that the VPN is connected.

As you have demonstrated the unconnected device which is not connected to the VPN server is fine.

Check what is my IP to establish where the VPN servers are located.

Thanks

@nick_1982   also check the cable you are using between your work computer and router, an old Cat 5 cable could also be the cause, make sure it it is Cat 5e or better.
