My modem is right at the front of my house which means my smart hub plus is installed there. As my house is long and thin I have a wifi dead spot in the backroom and kitchen. This means I can't stream cooking videos in my kitchen or watch tv on my ipad while I'm waiting for things to cook.
I asked ee if I could get a smart hub plus range extender/booster and they said I could only rent one for £10 pm. Does this sound right? Why can't they either just give me one or sell me one that's compatable with the smart hub plus? Can anyone recommend a good wifi extender/booster that would be compatable with smart hub plus? Judging on ee's less than brilliant response on this I think I'll move to a different provider when my contract expires.
Any guidance will be gratefully received!

@Jaime93 It is right, they will give you one or sell you one, it still cost's £10/month for the 24months and you have the privilege of not owning it and to return when finished. There are many on the market, also on that site where you can get EE stuff. How easy do you think it is to move your Router, longer cable that plus into the modem (OR ONT) moving it to the centre of the home is more than likely the lowest cost.

@Jaime93 The EE part if you wish to look for it is SW30A, make sure that it is that one though, nothing else.
A Tp-Link from like amazon, something like the RE700X, close spec, people have used, you can search the forum, around the £70 mark.

I only need one and don't understand why they won't just give me one. Seems like a crazy move from ee but explains why there's a thriving black market for the smart hub + hub extenders on ebay. Moving the router is difficult and would involve feeding cables around the edges of a bay window and then drilling through a wall. My house is old and drilling into thick walls isn't ideal creating more problems with chunks of wall and plaster coming away.

Thanks that's really helpful. It's a shame ee isn't as helpful as you are!!

@Jaime93 They need to make money. When you decide which way to go, extender around the 25 feet mark from the router is kind of good position to start with once you have it all set up, walls etc slow everything down, signal struggles to penetrate through. You cannot beat the wired but it is always difficult thing to do! See you also found the site, do wonder though, each device has a unique serial number, EE should know where they went to, and someone is going to get a bill when EE want it back, just keep it in mind!
