Hi can anyone help please?
I have the EE smart hub 6 plus router. I work from home, I use a TP link extender as unfortunately a strong signal doesn’t reach the room I work from.
Over the last two weeks, the main EE router has been changing channels twice a day (it could be more outside of work hours), this happens at the same time every day, which makes the extender go offline briefly.
I’ve logged into the admin account, it is set to smart channels and I can’t amend this.
Any other ideas on why this has only just started to be an issue recently? Nothing has changed set up wise as far as I’m aware.
Or is this an issue with the extender, and not the EE router?! I’ve tried moving the extender closer to main router, tried a factory reset, there’s no scheduled downtimes etc etc
Thanks in advance

@Stephb53 Explain which channel is moving and how do you know that it is moving, also what TP-Link RE do you have?

Hi
I have the TP link 705x extender. When I’m connected to my work laptop, in WiFi settings it will have for example (104) and after the connections dropped and it comes back on, this moves to (100) - these combinations vary, just an example.
These numbers also correlate to the EE admin account. I might be completely wrong, but that’s what it appears to be doing. Worked perfectly fine for years but the last 2 weeks every day at 10:16 and 14:15 it drops off, not great when I’m on calls 🫣

@Stephb53 You need to look on both your EE Hub and your Tp_Link RE to see what is going on, if the Hub is running Control Channel 100 (114) then it is double width and operating as a 160Mhz wide,
Channel 100 (104) norm is (106) but just may be the way it reports, then the system has folded back to a 80Mhz single wide channel, so DFS may have kicked in, are you within the proximity off a radar station ie an airport/airfield etc. Real strange you can time it exactly....
The EE you can do NOTHING about it as only Smart Channel is allowed, the Tp-Link you would need to look at and if you can adjust set it to 80Mhz operation will stop it jumping...
If you are an android user then Netspot by ETWOK Inc, and just use the free version DO NOT buy it, WiFi Inspector will show you what is going on, you just need to work out the EE Mac and the Tp-Link Mac easy to do that when you are close to the device.
Pay very close attention to the FREE EE-WiFi that the hub transmits you will be up in the same range and also the hidden wifi signals incase that is upsetting the Hub.
See my old linked picture below.

Thanks very much @JimM11
The tp link app doesn’t seem to give me any admin rights so I’ll try and find another way to view/change it. I’ve also reached out to them for help so hopefully get it sorted soon.

@Stephb53 If you know the IP off your TP Link that is assigned via the EE Hub, then you can web manage it, http://192.168.1.xx, my two happen to be .30 and .31 as that is how i have fixed them to get direct to them.
