Wi Fi Seven extender will only connect / pair via ethernet cable THEN drops

HI,

I have tried all the fixes ie Factory Reset- WPS  Etc i have 2 extenders but they only stay connected via ethernet cable , i have left them connected OVERNIGHT to, BUT when i take the ethernet cable out and move the extender even as little as 3 meters away within 5 minutes the extender cannot find the signal and blinks aqua-- i have recently upgraded to Wi Fi 7 from 6  the previous system worked fine right out into my garden office . the EE engineer set the new system up but he was only in the house 10 minutes after he had gone within 30 minutes the system began to hunt for a signal.  With previous technical issues it has wasted hours of my time wating for EE call backs which in my experience never happens but i will ring EE as a last resort

@Revbjp10bell Did you put the new wifi 7 Hub in the same place as the old one?

The smart wireless 7 device, is it in the same place as you had that old one also?

Once the TWO new devices are paired they need a few day's to work out each other on the mesh.

Thanks Jim,

Alas all is exactly the same location both router and extender and its been a week now with same fault , in the past when i have got an ee phone support they talk me through the same stuff i have already done multiple times , its a pian as i work from home in a garden office and as i say it was fine on wi fi six and never had a drop out with that from Day one-- when it worked it was great fast speeds up and down , strong signal--- TV is internet also with no problems , . When's its down i can only go as gar as the main router can reach so a pain--anymore thoughts PLEASE

@Revbjp10bell Would check the models to see they are both matching pairs and they have not sent wrong, link above does have pictures so slight differences in each will make them easier to spot.

You may find that the Pro extender has to be closer to the Pro Hub, the backhaul is higher frequency so less distance than the older wifi 6 version!

If it's the 7 Plus version then nothing much on the Forum about that one yet!

Yes Jim its the 7 Plus version as i say it drops out even if its in the SAME room , so i suspect a software fault and yes they are the same models good old EE does seem to use its customers as testers , i logged a help call 1 hour ago which promised me a 10 minute call back  i will not hold my breath-- i do appreciate your help --such frustration   as when it works its great -- but the loss of the garden office is not acceptable so i will see what happens and if i can get an engineer out ? thanks for your input

@Revbjp10bell Would jump on the web manager and take a look at all the settings first, http://192.168.1.254 to get there although they have jumped https mode, latest FW is linked below for that version also, don't think anyone has post later versions yet, and zero about the sw35a as far as i am aware currently, will be a few user's using so they may jump in!

Smart Hub 7 Plus

FW: r3.35.15-R-1597208-PROD-84001 and the gui is at App version 3.11.2 19/12/2025
FW: r3.35.24-R-1648110-PROD-84001 and the gui is at App version 3.11.3 23/01/2026

Try the https://192.168.1.254 then no longer with EE since they made all the changes.

Thanks Jim--will look at that although chrome does not like me going on that link but i will work round that
