So I've recently upgraded to WIFI 7 and I have 2 PS5's in the house both wired straight to the router. Both PS5's on the newest Call of Duty have a Moderate NAT Type.
I've tried port forwarding but that doesn't seem to fix the issue for one device as you can't do the same port forwarding for one device.
I then thought I'd try as a test to put one device in the DMZ and even that doesn't change it to Open despite DMZ opening every single port...
So I'm starting to wonder whether the EE Firmware just doesn't work...
Can anyone help me?
Both PS5's are Wired with Static IP's

Why can't you do the same port forwarding for the other device? You just enter the same ports against a diff device name/IP.

On my router it doesn't allow me to it just is greyed out after I put in the device/numbers? Unless I'm missing something?
I assume I should be able to open the same ports on different devices? I also don't understand how putting a device in the DMZ doesn't fix the issue when it opens all ports...

Once you've entered 1 isn't their a "+" to add another port forwarding rule?
Show us a image of the port forwarding page.

This is what happens when I try using the same port on a different device

Oh, yes. You need diff External ports for diff devices. Otherwise how is somebody external to decide which device they are connecting to?
But why do you need port forwarding anyway? Are you inviting external peeps to connect unsolicited to your various xBoxes?

They need the port forwarding because having an open NAT type for the PlayStation network speeds up matchmaking in multiplayer games, reduces ping and lowers pack loss/lag spike likelihood.
You’re doing better than me though Alex, I can’t get one PS5 to show anything lower than moderate, whether I use port forwarding or put it in the DMZ. Makes zero difference.

@alexarcher - are you saying that port forwarding provides the required outcome for one device but you're struggling to get the other 'working'? Or are you unable to get either machine to move away from the 'Moderate NAT' status?
Thinking firewall, do you have the Threat Detection feature enabled for your hub in the EE app? Fail to see how it would make any difference, but maybe also try with UPnP off/on (in Hub Manager settings under 'Firewall').
As an aside, what perceivable problem is 'open' versus 'moderate' actually causing? I stuggle to understand how the milliseconds of overhead that typical NAT translation might bring would have any significant bearing on things like matchmaking speed and packet loss - although, I don't typically play online multiplayer so have little first-hand experience.

Hi @alexarcher, I have had the same issue since switching to EE. Although I do not have the WiFi 7 I have the next one down to that (can not remember the name). The new call of duty is unplayable and I have found the same issues with the new EAFC too.
I did see that somebody had this issue and upgraded to the wifi 7 which then resolved the issue, but reading what you have said this isn’t the case with everyone.
Im afraid I think you are right the firmware just does not seem to work no matter what router/package you have with EE, a bit of a joke really.
I have been looking at other internet provider options.
cheers

I saw on another thread that cancelling the WiFi boost can help.
Personally, I can’t connect to a game at all on call of duty since I switched to my new connection with it turned on. Matchmaking just lasts forever, until eventually a new lobby starts with just me, then everyone else joins.
on the plus side, I always get games with 2 millisecond ping, because I’m hosting every match. On the downside, it’s taking 10 minutes at a time to get a game to start.
I assume it’s something to do with the WiFi boost software trying to enforce a good server connection, which is preventing the COD matchmaking from placing me in a lobby. But since you, frustratingly, need to phone up to have it switched off, I haven’t managed to test this yet.
