Using the EE website to upgrade from BT

Lardenr
Explorer

Hi, I am currently a BT customer , and I now want to upgrade to EE for my broadband , TV ect. However the deal on the EE website, is better than the one that BT is offering , for instance I don’t want the equivalent to BT halo. Can I then just put an order in through EE’s website? For the deal I want? Also I have a year on my contract with BT. As the same company, I would like to confirm that I won’t have any penalty charges for doing this . Thanks

109. 00 for the BT to EE upgrade, 79.00 if I do the upgrade I want through EE’s site

Richard

If you order through the EE Website directly without utilising the BT to EE migration process this would in fact generate early termination charges as it would open a brand new account and result in a line takeover of your BT service. BT and EE are two distinct companies, both under the BT Group umbrella.

The approved migration process through your BT account takes account of your current monthly package and remaining minimum term, and as such this is correctly showing an equivalent or higher price than your current deal as you cannot downgrade a package within your minimum term.

If you wish to downgrade your package while migrating to EE, you would therefore have to wait until the last 30 days of your contract term, in the same way as you would if you wished to downgrade a package on BT.
