Using EE Smart Hub + BT Whole Home Wifi (3 x White Discs)

I have EE Full Fibre Max Gigabit broadband which includes the White EE Smart Router.

I have also recently purchased the BT Whole Home Wifi (3 x White Discs) pack, and set them up as per the BT instructions, using the BT app, and they work great - No issues here, albeit the mesh creates a new SSID 'BTwholehome...', so the EE wifi signal is redundant and can be turned off in the router settings.

My question is, I belive the EE Smart Router is able to connect EE wifi dics directly to it, using the EE smart router as the first 'access point', therefore wouldn't need to have the first disc permanently connected via ethernet to the router. Would it be possible to connect the 3 x BT wifi discs in this manner and therefore effectively have 4 'mesh access points', the router being one of them, and no ethernet between?

Apologies for the non-technical speak. I realise I could just try to set the mesh up as above, albeit the first setup took me a while, so wondered if anyone had already done this and could confirm before I started.

Thanks!

Just tried it - They do not work in the same way that EE discs would and cannot be used with the EE Home app. I've reverted back to the original setup and all working fine again.

@jthodgk   I don’t think your BT disks work in the same way as the EE disks with the EE smart router.   The one disk needs to connect to the router so the other disks then work off that disk this is the mesh network.  EEs smart router can connect to the EE smart disks via Wi-Fi so the whole package is the mesh network.

Hi Chris, thank for your response. That's what I thought to be honest. I just wondered if anyone had tried it, conecting the BT discs as if they were EE discs, using the EE home app etc. I may give it a go now, and will report back.
