My smart tv on iplayer is buffering every few minutes. This is a recent problem as we didn’t have this before.

Is it buffering at any time of the day or just in the evening?

If it's just in the evening, it might be some overload on the cache servers inside the BT, which deliver the streaming.

Something you could try to do is changing the DNS in your EE router, if you can, using maybe Google DNS. That would pick up a different Akamai machine inside the BT network.

@ridleyfamily  Hi and welcome to the forum.

Before you try delving into the router changing things, which router do have, and are you able to log into it and post speeds?

Is the TV connected via Wi-Fi or cable?

Depending on your answers we can help narrow things down with some more info.

The tv is linked to WiFi. And I'm not sure how one logs onto the router. Are there instructions?

@ridleyfamily  hi again, this is a copy of the message sent out by @XRaySpeX  another of the Community Stars. It may seem complicated and a lot of information, it really does help work out the issues, and are similar to those asked by the Help Team if you call up.

I will post another link t=on how to log into the router.

f you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:

1. Post your full router stats:

  • For a BrightBox: login and go to Advanced Settings > System > DSL Status. Also post 'System Uptime' from top of System Log page.
  • For a SmartHub: login and go to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information. Obscure your names & any numbers in the BB Username & also the SSIDs.

Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.

2. Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Thanks, but you will find more detailed information in the Advanced Section. , the I think it is the Technical log once into advanced.

Are you able to post the other info requested?

Sorry but I don’t think I have enough of technical knowledge to proceed..I will need to speak to someone from ee.
