Smart router Aqua light flashing

Hi,

recently moved into my new home and ordered a smart router. Looking at the setup instructions I’ve found I don’t have a openreach modem but the house does have a BT master socket 5C. Plugged the red Ethernet cable into that and now the aqua light flashes.

not really sure where to go and trying to find a modems online is a nightmare. Any ideas please?

Attached a photo of the socket.

We’re new home owners, she ordered it through her EE account from her phone, around 2 weeks ago.

Were you just hoping that the previous owners had just left their BB up & running and just bought a router on the off-chance? It's likely they cancelled it with their ISP but you never know.

Buy one of the these DSL Cables & connect it from the DSL port of the router to the DSL/Internet port of the phone socket & see if it works. 1 of these should have come with any self-respecting router.

I’m think we missed a few things. My fiancée ordered the router with as part of EEs offer for full fibre internet. The package being full fibre 100.

I have a feeling the previous owners took the ONT with them, there is a random wire in the corner, is this for a fibre optic connection?

They shouldn't take the ONT away. It was screwed to the wall.

That cable looks like part of an ONT extension kit. Could there an ONT box in some other room, maybe a cupboard, maybe upstairs? Also is there some biggish box screwed to an outside wall?

Can you see if you have a working landline by plugging a handset into the phone socket & dialling 1470 17070? Do you get a dial tone & does it announce a circuit no. which will be its landline no.?

Looks like it was the hooked onto a pair of screws sticking from the wall.

we don’t have a landline handset in the house and didn’t get one as part of the offer.

I have a feeling that’s the part we’re  missing and should have been left behind.

I’ll hunt one down or try getting in touch with the previous owners, and see what that does. Something tells me that’s what’s causing all this, and we’ve ordered a router and set up a BB package for a with fibre optic.
