Smart Hub 7 Plus Port Forwarding Issue

Hi All,

Another Issue with the Hub 7 Plus, probably on others too.

When i create a Port forwarding rule, it always comes up with an error and doesn't save or eventually when it does save, it has created duplicate rules. Try to remove one and it removes both, aaarrrgghh! These EE hub are very frustrating.

I hope someone who can help sees this and my other post, to help fix these issues.

Hi, I was given the Hub 7 Plus with the extender and I could not setup port forwarding to work.  I tried reporting this issue, but it was like talking to a brick wall.  Some people were helpful and some struggled to assist.  No technical knowledge on the Hub 7 Plus.  I did one time speak to the business side and they admitted that this functionality had not yet been put into the residential side for the Hub 7 Plus.  I was tool to give it a couple of weeks.

What I found, is the lack to recognise Static and DHCP.  When you do port forwarding on a device it then says you need to make the IP address Static. But the device is already asking for a Static IP address as I have configured this.  The issue seems to be with the router does not recognise this.  The firmware is currently 3.11.2. So, now this is still the latest firmware.  If you enable DMZ.  Port forwarding works.  Be careful as DMZ turns OFF the routers firewall and your devices are visible to the outside network.

Let’s hope they resolve this soon.  In the interim I’m still using my old router Hub 2.  Works fine. Until they fix this bug with Hub 7 Plus.

@SamyM : You will do it when EE deems your router does it. It could be a matter of days & it will be overnight.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi,

I notice the Hub manager on Hub 7 Plus seems very clunky and slow compared to Hub 2.  Seems we have gone backwards.  Hopefully, we can make some progress and there might be another firmware update.

Well I think I was lucky and the router updated to 3.35.24-R-1648110-PROD-84001 and the gui is at App version 3.11.3.  I added port 21 to my cloud IP address as per the Hub2.  Seems to add successfully, but it does not work on a test.  It lets me add the port rule and as I save it, it said you need to make the IP address Static.  Which it already is.  So, you would think that would work.  But I cannot FTP when I do a test.  So maybe I need to do something different but not sure what unless EE still have it wrong.  Any idea?

I had same issue. Resorted to factory reset (I'm on same f/w as you), started adding ports forwarding again, and its all been working fine for weeks. I'm forwarding 443 and 80, but ftp should work for you.

Does port checker snow port open? https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

@SamyM There is as far as seeing on the Forum that there is now a new option on connect to get the FW pushed to the EE Router, so that may have happened, no longer an EE customer so cannot confirm either way to that, but think it's to do with the app! If you are not heavily into the EE Router then do as @Pecbeck and factory reset the Router, it just may need it for a complete flush back to square one!
