Ring doorbell

I have just upgraded to EE fibre and my Ring 3 plus doorbell won't connect to the new network.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Hi @yt5754

Thanks for coming here.

Which router are you using?

Does the Ring Camera find the WiFi network for your broadband?

Leanne.

@yt5754  some devices don't work well with the combined bands that new routers come with. However if you log into the router, go to the advanced section and turn off the 6Ghz band, then try again with the Ring device.

The router also has different modes on the Wi-Fi, whilst  the 5Ghz band is still off, try each on the modes to see if one works.

Depending on the router you may be able to separate the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands and give the latter a slightly different name/SSID - adding a 5 to the end is the easiest way.  It should work with the black Smart hub, but not the white Smart Router.

For the black EE Smart Hub, but not the white EE Smart Router, try separating the wireless bands/SSIDs. On the Advanced > Wireless Settings page of the SH there is a button near the top to Separate the Bands. Turn it ON. Then the 5GHz SSID will appear starting with "5GHz-" & the 2.4 GHz SSID not starting with "5GHz-". Then connect your devices to the 2.4 GHz SSID if they can't do 5GHz. The Smart Router doesn't allow this.

I run a Ring doorbell from a split band router all the time on EE Fibre BB. It has no trouble auto reconnecting even when the router is reset.

Using the EE fibre white smart router. It finds the temporary Ring network and then the EE network, I enter the password but it won’t connect.
Kind regards

Hi

Are you saying that there is no solution for the white EE fibre smart router?

Kind regards

Ian

With the white EE Smart Router, unlike the black EE Smart Hub, you cannot separate the wireless bands/SSIDs. The most you can do is to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

No, I'm giving you at least a partial workaround.

Hi, I'm having the same issue as to your previous response to Leanne. This may seem ridiculous but how , where and on what, do I log on to my router?

@nickso : Login to your EE SH at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router.
