Expensive broadband

I'm paying over £50pm for landline broadband giving me 30mbs, which is often interrupted or diminished, but fibre was laid in my road by a company I think was  named Gigabit, but as far as I know none of the homes locally were ever connected. I'm fed up with paying this amount when I see EE advertising broadband from well-under £30 per month.

Any ideas how I can get fibre as Gigabit seems to have disappeared from the area?

Sorry Gigabit. My memory was at fault and CityFibre was the company that installed the fibre lines to the area.

@severnbore That's the main problem with alt net fibre and even OR when laying fibre, there is a lot more to just putting it in the street, if you are out of your 24 month contract period, you could call EE CS and see if they can put you on a lower price to keep you, if you check any broadband site with your address or telephone you should be able to see what is on offer price and speed wise to your home, then make decision what is the best way to go, more info you have before calling the better, you may be asked to make the decision there and then, and if you don't wish to do it at that point more than likely offer will not be given next time you call. Fibre fttp rollout just takes a long time to get done, it's a waiting game!

@severnbore  Cityfibre have not disappeared, but EE cannot use they lines, EE use Openreach only.

£50 pm seems a lot, are you still in your minimum contract term? If not you are free to leave and pick one of the Cityfibre partners, their website lists those who they work with. You will need to pay early termination charges if you have not reached that minimum term. Bear in mind any new supplier may not have a voice service, and those that do will mean your phone will need to connect to the router. Also if you do want to keep your number when you move it that will also cancel your EE phone and broadband.

Order it from 1 of the ISPs listed by CityFibre

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.
