I've left ee now but have the old broadband router still (its an adsl router)
I've had zero communication as to whether ee want this returned. as im no longer with them I dont want to jump through hoops on a call im paying for. My final bill came through showing £1.57 refund due, when will I get confirmation about equipment return or disposal?

What router model is it? You have probably got a Brightbox.
EE won't want an ADSL router back. It was yours to keep. EE only require the Smart Hub (2023) & later to be returned & if so, they would be asking you for it back.

Yes it is a brightbox. are there any ee staff or mods here who can make some kind of official you can get rid of it message so i can send to the weee centre without worrying about them asking for it back in a month or two?

You were on EE legacy BB. EE Home Network T&Cs are its T&C's. Have a look at Section 8. Equipment of the Legal Terms at the beginning & Section 3.8 further down.
EE have absolutely no interest in Brightboxes. I've got numerous Brightboxes I've had for years 😉.
