Apple Mail not saving my SMTP server settings in Preferences

Hi,

Am only able to receive mail at present, not send, from desktop. Can use webmail (Greenby). Suddenly started on Saturday evening. I triend manually re-entering the settings, but Mail refuses to save them, claiming it doesn't recognise them. Greenby has checked it at their end, and the settings are correct. Is there something up with EE just now?

Please advise.

No, it's more likely up with Greenby. Have you moved from PN but retained their email?

What have you put as the Outgoing Server settings (all of them) in your Mail app, obscuring your name?

Yes, I had got it working for over a month after initial problems after the changeover. Then suddenly I lost sending ability at the weekend. Greenby's tested the user name and passwords. It seems to be Mail that's the problem. It won't save my server preferences when I enter them, defaults SMTP server to 'None' or 'Offline' and rejects log in.

I can use Webmail, and receive mail.Sending message.pngAnonymised server settings 09-12-25.jpg

Oh, yes, you were the 1 before with Greenby.

Previously you said SMTP was on port 587 but with no TSL/SSL.

Have you reintroduced an invalid char in pwd?

No, password just has letters and numbers. It's the same password I was using before Saturday.

TSL/SSL was turning itself on when I had it on automatically managing connection settings, hence I've made it show here.

Try manually taking it OFF.

I tried, but Mail isn't letting me edit the server list. It then defaults to there not being an outgoing server.

I've managed to send (and receive) a couple of short test messages (with TLS unchecked), but Mail won't let me save the server settings.
