Remote Access

I have just joined EE and have a brand new router. As my rental home is 180 miles from home I need to have remote access. Can I alter the settings on the router to allow this? If so how do I grant myself those permissions?  Thanks for any and all help. Cheers

@rupertc7   No, this is not something that is built into the router that would allow this.

Normally to connect remotely into you home network, you would use a VPN.  The VPN host would be on the router.  As Mustrum points out you cannot do that with EE and their modem/router does not have that capability.

You would need to use a third party router like ASUS or other.
If you do not have Digital Home Phone service then you can use your own router instead of EE supplied router.
If you do have Digital Home Phone service then you would need to piggy back the 3rd party router off the EE router and configure appropriately and use port forwarding (I know as I this is what I previously did before I had my phone service removed).

Key question here is: what do you need remote access for exactly? i.e. what settings within the router would you be looking to change on (presumably) a semi-frequent basis?

There are solutions but it would involve additional kit e.g. a Raspberry Pi or similar connected to the hub that could act as a VPN/remote desktop endpoint.
