I moved to new EE/BT for fibre and kept same BT Guardian landline and number. All worked well until yesterday. Now only get 'engaged' tone when trying to use landline. Still receive incoming calls. Line into house has been checked and is OK. Have used link supplied by EE text message. Unplugged power from modem, reset modem, unplugged power and phone connection to smarthub. Constant green light on smarthub. So how do I fix this? My package includes 700 mins/month.

To resolve the issue of phone periodically getting permanent engaged tone, I have had to move my phone into another room to plug the phone into the router. A bit of a nuisance as the modem had to be fitted into a bedroom but at least the phones are working.

I understand how frustrating this can be. I now have a permanent engaged tone again on my landline but can receive calls. However we are elderly and of ill health and it frightens me that I frequently don’t have a phone to use in an emergency. I have asked for help before and people speak in a foreign language - I just want someone to simply tell me how to clear this engaged tone as it keeps happening. Digital voice has been an awful decision on my part, I was promised it would work and wouldn’t cause this type of problem.

@TopTaurus With Digital Voice you have Voice Mail actived by default. Try phoning 1571 to check if you have any emails. The notification of voice mails is an intermittent dial tone, similar to the engaged tone.

@TopTaurus The intermittent tone for voicemail indication has been reported as not functioning in the service, and if you are finding, one of the two, dial out or not able to receive calls, then reset of the router off/on appears to clear the issue, apart from raising a complaint with EE on the performance of DV in general then it is the only advice you can be given.
