In my opinion what ever you do - DO NOT TRUST this company under any circumstances. I was with BT for over 30 plus years no problem. Having been bombarded on media with super fast broadband i visited the EE shop and EE is now owned by BT. They had my details so knew exactly what i was having with BT and gave me an upgrade package !!!!!Only issue it was not an upgrade at all it was a downgrade . BT speeds 100-150 EE 67. Complained and waste of time they do not want to know. Not fit for purpose , so have gone to Sky speed 150 plus and half of what EE were charging. All good , yes and no, SKY Fantastic, EE the pits , pay us £1000 termination (no not fit for purpose (Misrepresentations Act) , send back equipment - 6 times , you already have it back. no send it back, yes all received, no / yes - idiots . Then you owe us £100 what for missing equipment , poor service ? Pay up or else - NO you should pay me for all the hassle you have caused. Then invoked Communications Ombudsman, awaiting their investigation meanwhile EE debt collection notices (harassment big time) , default notices etc . You cannot trust this company beware they only want money.

@tony2131812   Nice rant.   But the problem is and you failed to say it.   You agreed to the contract did you not read the contract and what it offered ?  Seems not and you don’t seem to take  responsibility for that,   and BT has owed EE since 2016 so nothing new about that.    

 Just to point out an upgrade doesn’t mean more or better it just means new contract.

@tony2131812 , if you read your contract terms, you would have known that an early termination fee would be what you would have to pay. Also I do not understand why your speeds would have been any different from BT to EE as EE is owned by BT, just  different company name using the same internet. 

How did you send the equipment back? If you do not pay what EE are asking for, then the debt collectors will be after you and you will get a bad credit rating.

All companies work the same, you terminated your contract early, so according to their terms and conditions, you are liable to pay the rest of the contract, sorry if you did not consult EE first or give them time to rectify the speed you were not happy with.

I, too, don't understand why you didn't get the same speed plan (or better) from EE as you got from BT.

Hi I did not know what speed I was on with BT previously but gave the EE shop all of my account details so they knew exactly what i had.

They said BT was going to cater for business users and EE would look after consumers and said EE would be using the latest technology as BT's were old and hence the upgrade the only thing i would miss out would be the loss of my land line .
This was not an issue as used my mobile for many years.

Once the EE router etc arrived i sent back the BT equipment as requested but knew it was slower.
I left it a few days to settle down and still no better so contacted EE who said yes it was slower than should and tweaked it from their end and said should improve - it did not.

Then backwards and forwards , i then discovered (no one told me) that with BT I was on i believe Halo 1 (100+ speed) and EE was 67.
I asked if this is an upgrade then why is it slower - no answer. And why would anyone volunteer to go for a slower speed than they currently had with BT ?

More backwards and forwards - then said we have an answer wireless router you will get 150 + speeds in reality 10, Yes 10. (have screen shots from speed tests).

More hassle , said I wanted what I originally had with BT speeds and NOT the slower EE one had given me and to adjust it at their end or return the original BT

This was declined , so went with Sky Broadband who gave me 150 plus half the cost.

And what is even more Prudent i found out from the engineer Sky are using the same cables which BT supply and the same technology called G fast - I was told by EE i could not have it. !

Now at nearly 70 I trusted EE not to rip me off , I did not know what speed i was on previous BUT THEY HAD ACCESS TO ALL MY DETAILS AND KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I HAD .

This company has taken advantage of me , i am not a technophile but not a fool either , they tried to hoodwink me and caught them out. They should have said sorry and restored what i had previous . Are they selling off the excess bandwidth they have saved from me to just make more monies this is what I suspect and treat me like a fool he will never know or if he does he will not do anything about it .

Hi when i visited the EE shop i explained that i was a long-term BT customer - 30 plus years.
I explained that the adverts for EE were given mega fast speeds and as i stream (you tube) the extra speeds would be good as sometimes you get buffering ( i think that's it s name it hangs up and then trues again) .

I gave them my BT account details which as they said were now part of BT could access and trusted them , why would I not ?

Regarding the equipment (BT that is) this was returned as requested when the EE kit arrived.
When EE failed to live up to the expected speeds i had previous with BT and giving them several opportunities to restore or to return the original BT they declined.
So this was terminated as clearly unfit for purpose and in accordance with the Misrepresentation Act 1967-


Removal of certain bars to rescission for innocent misrepresentation.
Where a person has entered into a contract after a misrepresentation has been made to him, and—
(a)
the misrepresentation has become a term of the contract; or
(b)
the contract has been performed;
or both, then, if otherwise he would be entitled to rescind the contract without alleging fraud, he shall be so entitled, subject to the provisions of this Act, notwithstanding the matters mentioned in paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section.

Where a person has entered into a contract after a misrepresentation has been made to him otherwise than fraudulently, and he would be entitled, by reason of the misrepresentation, to rescind the contract, then, if it is claimed, in any proceedings arising out of the contract, that the contract ought to be or has been rescinded, the court or arbitrator may declare the contract subsisting and award damages in lieu of rescission, if of opinion that it would be equitable to do so, having regard to the nature of the misrepresentation and the loss that would be caused by it if the contract were upheld, as well as to the loss that rescission would cause to the other party.

I eventually went with Sky Broadband , EE were clearly trying to be difficult , you owe us this and that , no i do not if anything you owe me. !
Then send the equipment back , as soon as the Sky router arrived i did.
Then EE send your kit back, i have, eventually received message thank you for returning kit . Then more send your kit back ! plus 6 sets of return packages.

Then you owe us £100 , all over again, harassment you owe us pay us, no in dispute so involved Ofcom then the Communications Ombudsman.
EE knew this and then ignored and instructed debt collection to continue harassment.
I wrote to them please advise your client EE this is in dispute with the Ombudsman. they ignored so have had too serve a cease and desist notice plus reported to the FCA.
Now EE has placed a default notice on my credit file, so have had to write to the credit agencies to make them aware and that EE owe me £1200 and they are in default.

So if anyone is listening do not trust this company .
This to me and yourself makes sense.
I honestly believe they knew exactly what they were doing and took a chance probably get paid commission i do not know and never expected an old fool like me would notice but if i did would not do anything about it.

It was only when EE was installed and i was really expecting a mega fast speed i thought this is too slow and was positive it was less than before.
A friend of mine suggested checking my previous bills with BT as that would show the speeds you were supposed to get and also check speed tests on EE.

This is where the Alarm bells started to ring , BT was from memory Halo 1 or 3 (sent the papers off to the ombudsman) with speeds 100+ , EE was 67.
So i knew there was a problem , EE tweaked it at there end but NEVER said this is what you should expect as that is what you entered for.

Anyway much going backwards and forwards and considerable time at my end. I told EE restore my speed to what i had with BT or alternatively unwind and send me the BT equipment back.

NO cannot do that.

I then discovered where i live there is fibre to the cabinet, but copper wires to my home. BT uses technology called G FAST (the engineer told me) which boosts the speeds. EE said i could not have it whereas BT had provided it .

And then to top it off, you find that Sky not only matched BT original speed but enhanced it further and they use BT lines and G Fast. !

so a competitor has access but EE cannot - does this make any sense .
I believe they did not want to do it (do not know why) and was just hoping i would roll over and except it and David is not allowed to challenge Goliath
