Port forward not working with EE smart hub

I just installed the EE smart hub. I'm having lots of problems when I copied port forward rules from the previous router. Most rules were not working. I could not figure out the be pattern. e.g. 9480-9499  udp/tcp worked fine while 5190-5199 udp did not.

Has anyone worked out what definitely works what doesn't?

Has EE got any firmware upgrade plan to fix the bug?

@freddy2004 It's good you are at least up and running, know what FW is sorting bit's and pieces out, just keep an eye on it at all times, you just never know, they may have even fixed pnp, fix one break the other, fix them all !!!👍

@bobpullen  My SH Pro is now running firmware r2.64.3-R-1213091-PROD-1 and after a full power off reset looks to be forwarding those ports I have manually entered.

Devices connected to the hub by ethernet via a pair of powerline plugs and an 8 port switch that have always has static iPs assigned and ports forwarded automatically by uPnP when connected to myoriginal BT Home Hub are now working, but only if I enter all the port forwarding rules manually.  The system messages on one of those devices, an IP security camera, states "no uPnP service available" despite uPnP being toggled "on" on the SH Pro "Firewall" page; the port forwarding page on the hub remains stubbornly blank of any entries assigned by uPnP.

I had a further 90 minutes plus telephone call with EE support last week, the call agent could not explain the uPnP behaviour and arranged for a replacement SH Pro to be sent out, that arrived over teh weekend and I've connected it and tested it this morning, it updated itself to the same current firmware version my original hub is using (r2.64.3-R-1213091-PROD-1) with absolutely identical results ie. noport forwarding rules assigned by  uPnP, had to enter all rules manually to make anything work.

So, I'm just sending back the replacement hub, rather than go through the pain of setting al my devices up again to a new SSID etc.

EE need to sort the firmware for the SH Pro in my view, I did  not have these issues with the old BT Home Hub

@aviator56 thanks for clarifying and glad to hear the manual port forwarding is doing what it needs to.

Inclined to agree that the UPnP issue needs fixing in firmware as there are a fair few other posts round  these parts from people with similar observations. Hopefully said fix isn't too far away! 🤞

Hi All and a Happy New Year.

Can anybody confirm if the SH Pro is operating correctly using UpNp and creating port forwarding rules as demanded by the clients that connect to it please?

My firewall table is not showing any UpNp  port assignments and I've just re-installed an old Buffalo Linkstation that attempted to instigate a UpNp connection and reports "No UpNp available, despite being handed an IP address well above the 192.168.1.64 boundary.

I've confirmed the router is running the latest firmware - r2.64.3-R-1213091-PROD-1

Cheers

Hi everyone, I am trying to set up port forwarding on a new EE smart home plus, I have successfully opened 1 port for a live streaming camera on a static ip and it works, but I would like to work out how to open multiple ports within the new rule, when I press the plus button to add another row I call it the same name select the same device and input the next external and internal ports that I want to use then I  save, I try to  add another row but it won’t allow it. I save and when I return again to firewall annd port forwarding only the first port forwarding entry is there.  I can’t see what I’m doing wrong.  The smart home hub from BT, I was able to just add away at ports for the same device.

Any help would be appreciated in opening multiple ports for one device. Ie 554, 8888, and 37777

thanks.

I’m still experiencing serious problems with UpNp and port forwarding on the Smart Hub Pro - it simply isn’t working as the old BT routers I’ve run for more than 10years did.

I’ve raised the issue with EE support and have the firmware update was pushed out just before Christmas, but it hasn’t fixed the issues.

The SH Pro won’t recognise UpNp requests from my security cameras that are connected to it via a switch and the “Firewall” tab in “Advanced Settings” does not contain any entries at all attributed to UpNp, it only lists the port forwarding rules I’ve created, and then it exhibits the same behaviour described earlier other threads, in that it won’t resolve external domain named port URLs over WiFi from my mobile phone or laptop, it will resolve them via cellular if I turn WiFi off on the phone, it’s just bizarre!

I was sent a replacement SH Pro as a desperate measures fix by EE, I plugged it up, waited for the firmware to update to latest release and tested it to see if any UpNp devices populated the “Firewall” table - nothing doing, identical behaviour to the original SH Pro, so I’ve returned the replacement, rather than go through the pain of setting up a dozen smart switches and all the other 35plus devices in the house!
