PiVPN (using Wireguard) and EE Router settings

Hey all,

I'm looking to create a VPN and using PiVPN on my RPi was my choice.

Sets up well but when it comes to the port forwarding, it seems to run into issues.

Under Advanced > Firewall > Port Forwarding

The port I have is 12345

I've set this at both the Start and End ports as well as external and internal ports.

I've also tried setting it as a VPN and TCP/UCP protocols. But no joy, it just hangs. I feel it's the port forwarding but I can't test it either way.

Thanks in Advance

Hi @w1lkesy_

Welcome to the community.

This is a bit above my level of comprehension. Hopefully @XRaySpeX will be able to help when he next logs in.

Which router do you have?

What does ShieldsUP! report the status of your ports when you use its All Service Ports & also your opened port with User-Specified Custom Port Probe ?

Hi, @XRaySpeX

I have an EE Smart hub but I do think it's on the "older" side

So I ran those test and got the below results:

```GRC Port Authority Report created on UTC: 2022-05-28 at 18:01:52
Results from scan of ports: 0-1055
    1 Ports Open
    1 Ports Closed
 1054 Ports Stealth
---------------------
 1056 Ports Tested
The port found to be OPEN was: 80
The port found to be CLOSED was: 443
Other than what is listed above, all ports are STEALTH.
TruStealth: FAILED - NOT all tested ports were STEALTH,
                   - NO unsolicited packets were received,
                   - NO Ping reply (ICMP Echo) was received.
```

OK & what about the User-Specified Custom Port Probe ?

What do you mean by an EE SH being on the "older" side?

I think I've had the router for nearly 4 or 5 years now.

That "CLOSED" usually means you have set up Port Forwarding correctly but the server on that port is not up & running.

The age of the router has nowt to do with your issue.

Right ok! Thanks, I feel I'm have way there then!

Is there a setting I'm missing to turn "on" the port?

Thanks in advance @XRaySpeX

No, as I said the Port Forward has been set up correctly. It's the actual server program that is not running.
