Option button

When I call our surgery I am given a choice to press either 1 or 2 on the key pad. Pressing either does not work and am returned to message to press options. Phone is bt 4600 with dv adapter connection.

Can't get through until I press one of the options,  when I try one of the options I get back to the original message to press one of the options.
