Openreach do not want to be reached.

I got a 'reminder' from Openreach to sign and return a works permission form.

This was done three days ago and I don't see a way of contacting Openreach.

Text message failed and most of their 'help' pages tell people to contact their internet supplier.

I have a date fixed for installation (74 days after ordering!) so I assumed that the permission had been received.

Is it safe to ignore 'reminders' from Openreach?

Openreach are not customer facing. You deal with your ISP, they liaise with Openreach.

What's the issue?

@gfb8846 Contact EE and deal with it, if not done you job will get cancelled and then who knows where you will be.

Openreach don't seem to want to talk to EE now. Latest news is that my installation appointment has been put back to 6th August. Ordered fibre on 28th April so not at all impressed.

@gfb8846   might not sound it, but  it is still making progress.

Do you know where the fibre is getting fed from and what needs digging up?

If it needs access and permission from the council  or traffic control it can be very time consuming.

If you complete the BTW DSL address checker  https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome   enter your post code, then choose your address from the drop down. Post the complete table, using the desktop no mobile version, and include the text below the table, but di hide your address. We should be able to say what the problem might be.

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG partial Direct In Ground.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

Council or roads not involved. Openreach visited over a month ago. Nothing but yellow arrows on pavement.

'How long does it take to have fibre installed' is too hard a question for Sky so I suppose I will just have to wait!

@gfb8846    so the KCI2 Assure  bit means that it is not a straight forward install and a more detailed survey would be needed.

And  the "Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG partial Direct In Ground. again means there is no easy path between your property and where it can pick up a fibre connection.

Bottom line is you need to be patient. Not knowing the detailed between your and the fibre pickup point, but maybe you could make it easier by installing trunking with a draw string to pill the fibre through, otherwise you need to wait for the dig team.

@gfb8846 You would be advised just to wait and let the dig team do there job, even if you go do it OR will refuse to use what ever you have done, Neighbour ordered on sky Sept 2024 and installed finally 18th Jun 2025, dig, roadworks, double dig, re dig and then they run the cable to the wrong CSP, had the engineer scratching his head but he found it, got the India IT team involved and rerouted the software point, bit of faffing about hope they noted it all on the OR side? Would have been another dig you just could not make it up!
