So we are new to EE and could only get upto 16mbps as only part fibre…we have a wifi6 box and the connection keeps dropping..
I have my PS4 connected via wire which works well as long as nobody connects to Wi-Fi 🫣 as soon as someone connects to Wi-Fi the net drags real bad and the ps4 starts buffering and loses connection..practically impossible to connect phone and use Wi-Fi as it’s so bad so having to top up phone and pay a fortune for mobile data..
Any reason or help as to why it’s happening? If it doesn’t get better I will be forced to leave and rejoin Virgin just reluctant to pay there prices.
thanks
John

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.
Is it the BB as a whole dropping or just the WiFi connections? Do Ethernet connected devices stay working? What colours are the light sequence when it happens?
If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:
1. Post your full router stats:
Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.
2. Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.
3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

@fast7rax recommended minimum speed for gaming is 25Meg 16meg is slow so when gaming and when someone is trying to also use the WiFi it will impact it heavily. That 25Meg is also just for gaming not anything else at the same time.,

The modem does not do anything different regarding lights..we use the ps4 just to stream YouTube and as soon as we connect a phone for example to the Wi-Fi and open a webpage on the phone YouTube on the ps4 will start buffering or lag out altogether and the Wi-Fi just hangs for a few mins..it’s barely impossible to use the Wi-Fi if the tv is on via the ps4.

It’s not even gaming it’s used for streaming YouTube
