For everyone that has issues pairing with the hub, what worked for me was removing the EE app and installing it again(iPhone).

My hub has been working fine but no access to the controls in the app. I found this approach finally paired it with the app after many attempts:

I have a Smart Hub Plus, essentials fibre 67 (still no full fibre for me 😥). I am using an iphone 15 with iOS 18.1.1 and the EE app installed and fully up to date.

The way this worked for me was  to turn off the hub with the power button and disconnect the hub from power, remove the power plug from the wall socket and the broadband line. Then follow the steps in the app exactly:

  • Plug in the power lead to the router and the power plug into the wall socket. Don't turn anything on yet. Tap the done app button to tell it you have completed this step.
  • Plug in the broadband line in to the socket on the router and the wall. Tap the done app button again to tell it you have completed this step.
  • Turn on the wall power then press the power button on the broadband. Wait about 3 minutes until the light turns aqua. Then press the done button on the app.
  • The scan button should appear. This worked in that it scanned the QRcode but didn't manage to connect to the app. It just did the whirly waiting animation and said "pairing with your hub" but never did.
  • I cancelled out and chose to enter the router information manually (there is an option below the scan button). Everything you need is on the router's slide out plastic card with the QR code on.

The one thing that then did not work correctly is I think because of iOS 18 - it sent me to the incorrect part of settings to add the wifi password, so if you have upgraded to iOS 18, just back out of that part of the iphone menu and find where you usually add wifi passwords. I had already added mine so I actually just went to this part of the menu, saw that the password was still there and changed nothing. After that I returned to the app (by swiping up from the bottom and selecting the already open ee app) and then it asked me for the admin password for the card. It paired immediately at this point.

This worked for me. I hope it works for at least some of you. I have been trying for 2 months to find a way to make this work and this is the only thing that made it happen.
