Hello,
I cannot figure this out. My son has a brand new gaming pc. When you switch it on, it consumes the wifi in the house.
-We only get 35mbps top anyway, but it drops to 7-10 when the pc is on. Turn it off and we are back to our max speed.
I have switched wireless adapters to try and help. No different. Nothing else on that is data hungry. His xbox works fine.
Even though his adapter is a 5khz dongle, its connecting at 2.4,
Nothing running on his pc in the background, or anything on boot up.
Any suggestions?

@bonaza1 Find the Resource Monitor utility in windows tools, if you launch it and click on Network tab, then you will see what is happening with regards to data, should give you an idea what is happening, normally starts of pulling data but when nothing is running folds back to a low value.
You can also right click down in the taskbar, Launch the Task manager, and select the network tab top right, and it should show the applications that are calling on network packets to be used. HTH
