A few months ago BT switched my router to one from EE and I've noticed that the Dell laser printer seems to have vanished from the printer lists on all our laptops/desktop. My brother thinks it is down to the IP address (he printed off a sheet and it says 0.0.0.0) he said the router is not picking up the printer, it is connected with a network cable. If I ring EE will they be able to help me? I'm not sure why my Brother printer is still working and the Dell isn't but the Dell is much older.
Any advice is much appreciated but bear in mind I am in no way a computer expert 😂
Many thanks

That's odd, my mobile does record missed calls and I've had no calls today - how did you get my number?🤣

The netgear thing is an ethernet splitter, allows you to connect more devices. The printer definitely has a network cable - (see photo's), I followed the wrong cable in a pic I took earlier, it is pinned to the skirting and actually goes straight into the back of my EE router. Omg those photo's are enormous - sorry 😂

Sorry Jim, made a mistake, followed the wrong cable - the Dell printer cable is white and is pinned to the skirting board and goes straight into the back of the EE router NOT the splitter ...😂 no idea why these photo's are going in so big 🤗

@Ren77 Try the following but not sure if will work, on the back off the printer disconnect the Ethernet and plug it into a laptop if you have one if it connects which i think it will do then EE Router port is good, Port 4 where it is plugged into on the EE router is showing no connection but the printer with the yellow light on it is showing something, but would have liked to seen the green on also, no way to workout what the indication is as there is really no standard, Just think that the old dell does not like the new EE router port, there is a link earlier in the posting about getting a Tp-Link switch usb power cable for it and a patch cable unless you have one lying around.
The dell is old and got old port speed nic on it, the wireless function on the printer is also ancient as you will see from the spec sent earlier. Cannot get past your call guardian on the BT line! from 8am onwards. Jim

Hi Jim - omg I had no idea my phone number was on display!! thank God it was removed, we never use the landline now but when we did we got plagued with cold calls from 7am so we signed up to BT's caller preference service - not a cold call since. The green light flashes intermittently, kept trying to get a photo of it on but was impossible. The orange light is stable.
I don't think any of my laptops (Macbooks) have that type of port that I could plug the ethernet cable into, we've got an old windows PC (with a tower thing) it might plug into that? My brother did mention trying a new cable so will ask him to get me that TP-Link cable and whatever a patch cable is .... it's all like a foreign language to me ... will report back 😁💗 Ren

@Ren77 No problem service is pretty good, tried nearly dozen times to get through and make you aware but managed to get a EE mod to finally remove it! EE Smarthub+ NIC ports in general not bad, but did have to throw a switch in between mine before i departed, still have the switch up and working, just not the Router anymore!

Guess what? The printer is now WORKING!!! 😁😄 My brother came over, tested the ethernet cable with some sort of device (was fine) he re-installed it on the main PC but had to get another IP address, I downloaded some software from Dell onto my Macbook and this time it appeared on my printer list so added it again - omg what a palaver. I was all set to ring Dell support. I'd forgotten what a quality printer it was - the resolution on photo's is excellent. Got lots of toners too.
Thank you SO much for all the time and effort you've put in on here Jim - so much appreciated.

@Ren77 Well done, it's just sometimes what it takes, lack of the lights makes it hard to see a port connection physical on the back of the EE Router, the Dell helps as it has the two off them, now you have it up and working take a look see so you get familiar with the dell port lights! Never going to be that fastest printer, but the old dell laser's are good and sturdy!
