Migrating from plusnet to EE BB whilst still within the contract time

After a phone call from EE yesterday I decided to change my deal with plusnet to EE. I was told that despite still bring under the contract period that there was no penalty payment changing between the 2 as they are all under the bt umbrella. Later I got an email from plusnet saying how sorry they were I was leaving and that I would get a bill of £83 due to the contract. Does anybody know if this is correct and if I was misinformed by the rep who called me. I told plusnet if that's the case I'll obviously be staying as it was only the financial benefit of moving that caused me to do this ...there is now a major loss in taking this action. I just need someone who may know who is actually correct EE rep of Plusnet.

 Thx

Hi @Fisherofcarp,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Please get in touch with Customer Care so a member of the team can take a look at this for you.

They'll be able to access your account and make sure your final Plusnet bill will be cleared.

I believe what you were told by the rep was wrong, unless they were offering you some special deal. While both are part of the same BT Group, EE & PN are still separate ISPs. Normally when you leave 1 while still within contract term you still have to pay their Early Termination Fees. This seems to be confirmed by the email you got from PN. It will be up to PN whether you get charged.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thx, I've cancelled the move now.

@Fisherofcarp  Given the forthcoming price increase in broadband and phone prices now might be the best time to jump ship. Waiting until 1st April might be better for you.

When or if you do, ask about EE’s offer to pay up to £50 of your final bill - if it is still offered.

Thanks. The price I was offered would have been with the new rise, but the difference in that price and the plusnet one was only about 3.50 so I'll probably sit where I am now. I wasn't even thinking of migrating till I received the phone call.

Thanks for the help and suggestions from people though.
