Lost my Echo dot functionality

I have just upgraded from my BT hub2 to the latest EE Hub, and seem to have lost my Echo dot functionality. One echo dot will not connect, and my echo dot 2  connects, but will not play radio etc. Interestingly, When, eg, I ask it to play Radio 5, it says it will, but a sonos speaker in another room does it instead! The dot 2 will also give news updates, tell the time , and set an alarm, but nothing else ..

My sonos one appears to function, but may also be connecting through Sonos.......any ideas?

@Juanpotato : Which latest EE hub? It sounds as tho' you are on fixed home BB rather than mobile BB.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Sorry...just fixed BB, not mobile....still have issues!

@Juanpotato : So, Which EE BB plan are you on including its speed? What EE router do you have (read its label or post a pix)?

@Juanpotato  that seems a very odd problem.

A router only provides connectivity for the Echo, not any control functions.

However I wonder if position may be causing an issue with interference. Are the Echos close to the router? If so try moving them a bit.

Knowing the router model would help, as would the steps you have tried to get them to connect?

Hi

The smart hub is the SH403 and uses a smart WiFi pro extender.

@Juanpotato You may have to setup the compatible wi-fi feature on the EE Pro router that you have, then assign the older devices to that wi-fi ssid and password, Echo dot's struggle with high channel and not having separate bands. HTH

I've been in touch with EE and been through numerous options to no avail. I changed the voice assistant on my Sonos 1 to Google, but lost radio station access.... fortunately salvaged when I went back to Alexa on this unit. I need to speak to EE again, but I'm not hopeful.

@Juanpotato Didi you when talking with EE, set anything with the Compatible wi-fi option on the EE router?

Hi Jim.....I think that I've stumbled across the solution....I deregistered the echo devices, then reconnected them with the Alexa app.....seems sorted, and no fiddling with the hub (as EE had .e doing!)

Thanks for your attention

Peter.
