Just Ordered New Wi-Fi 7 Package - Updates & Review To Follow

Morning Everyone,

After waiting for any news, I saw that the new WiFi 7 is being advertised and the Smart Home Pro is available. 

So I’ve signed up for the 1.6Gb package which includes the WiFi 7 Router. 

I will update this post once I receive everything and I’ll do a full review. 

I get the new iPhone 16 Pro Max this Friday on launch which is WiFi 7 so I’ll be able to test out the new WiFi capabilities and then I’ll do a wired test to my gaming PC. 

Estimated Date for equipment = 28 September 2024

Date for Installation - 2nd October 2024 - 8am to 1pm. 

Although I don’t need an engineer as I have everything in place from my previous internet so will see if I can just plug in myself 😄

@Colesey Upgrading from fttc to fttp, pole ready, ongoing 2 years, Online about 2 months ago, and EE ready to sell about 2 weeks ago as far as i could see, with all the checking. Just got to wait until it all becomes available!!! TV via sat, phone no way until they sort out DV, whenever that happens...

It’s been a thoroughly disappointing experience so far for me with this WiFi 7 upgrade. Nothing annoys me more than existing customers being overlooked for new customers.

i took out the 1.6gbs service in May under the promise that I’d be sent a WiFi 7 router with multiple 2.5gb ports so I can actually get the full speeds to my router that I’m paying for, but so far it’s just been a whole host of being fobbed off and zero progress. I’ve now been told to wait a couple of weeks for an email but I just fell like they are saying anything to stop people phoning up. 

I feel that before announcing the the world about how great their WiFi 7 offering is, it should at the very least be available as an upgrade to those currently on the top tier that actually need it even to get the 1.6gb and not be capped at 1gb due to inferior tech.

I received a text this morning that mine will be dispatched in the next 4 working days, I am on the 1.6gbps package. I did contact them two weeks ago about it, seems like they are finally starting to send them out

@CCC33 have you called up and spoken with the next gen team to register your request for the WiFi 7 / Pro router? Many of us on the 1.6Gbps package have and some are starting to get SMS today order will be placed for us in the next 4-days, more info here:

@CarbonStar Just a heads up. You may not see the full WiFi 7 potential with your Iphone 16 pro Max as Apple have capped it to using 160hz channel width and not 320hz that WiFi 7 can utilize. Unsure of the real world speed penalty of that but pretty poor on Apples part

I can confirm this as well on my existing WiFi 7 router I get a max of 1600Mbps on my iPhone 16 PM, on my S24U I get 1836Mbps down.

Spoke with ee again today as I hadn’t heard anything and the WiFi 7 router won’t be coming my way anytime soon, have been told they are only sending it customers who are either on the 1.6gb plan or can get the 1.6gb plan in there area even if they are in a lower plan they can add for £10pm unfortunately I’m not in area where 1.6gb is  available, 900 is the fastest I can get which is what I’m on, they have raised a formal complaint for giving me false info when I rang 2 weeks ago and put in an upgrade request with open reach to upgrade my area which they say is typical completed in three months but can sometimes take longer, just wanted to share as I know some on here have been having issues upgrading this may explain it, if they had only said this at the start we wouldn’t all be in this position now

The Amazon sales are next week so may get a bargain lol
