Issue Port Forwarding For Game Servers

So I have port forwarded many times before with different isps for game servers tried both ark port 7777/7778 and Palworld 8211 however now that I am with EE I just can’t seem to get it working.

I have set my port forwarding rules checked that my server is setup correctly and can see they all should be working.

I have the Smart Hub 7 Pro running

Firmware version

r3.8.26-R-1595999-PROD-1

has anyone had any luck as this is a new contract and would really like to just get it working rather then cancelling and moving to another isp

Okay now i am really baffled i have got the ark server working and port forwarded using the exact same way as the palworld server yet palworld doesnt work and i still cannot join servers on palworld.

@FadeLupae There is not much complaining regarding PF especially on the Pro but it's all hard to say, palworld you will need to find the tools to check that all out! Having the server on the DMZ you are effectively bypassing the hub firewall completely.

Yeah thanks for that suggestion as ark has now gone straight through with it so that definitely worked. I’ll have to further look into what’s going on with palworld and try to see where else it could be getting blocked 🙂

thanks for your help happy to say this is probably as solved as it can be

@FadeLupae Good luck with it all, don't use any EE Equipment any more had the once bitten twice shy with it!

indeed out of curiosity what do you have in your setup ?

@FadeLupae Purely 100% Asus user, 2 off XT8's and 2 off RP-AX58's with a little bit Tp-Link powerline for the awkward spot devices. Ai Wireless and wired backhauls on the Asus.

Did you figure out a solution? Having the same issue with Palworld - ended up calling up EE and they cant add the IP I'm connecting to to a whitelist, disable DDOS protection or anything

At my wits end but don't really want to have to fork out the cash for a new router haha

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Mrbaker96

I Factory reset my router and i am now able to join servers as well as host servers again.

Bit weird as it didnt work straight away but after about 20 minutes after the reset all worked fab

Hi @Mrbaker96

My server pc is also in the dmz now

Extremely strange! The same thing is happening when trying to use my phone as a hotspot (also with EE) but not happening to others who use different ISPs, so probably not an issue with the hosting service I'm using

Might just bite the bullet and get a new router, tried so many things to get it to work

Think my issue is a little different, I'm able to connect to the server, but after a couple of hours (usually) I get disconnected from the server and even the router completely! From looking up, and doing a lot of testing / fixing, it seems to be an issue with the inbuilt DDOS protection and the technician (lovely guy and very helpful) couldn't get anywhere with it either

Thanks for the reply 🙂 Hopefully this all helps others down the line too
