I joined EE Broadband in September with 150mbps, I was unhappy with the speed, questioned an EE agent, who claimed I was receiving in excess of the minimum guaranteed speed (100). I subequently changed my contract and moved up to 500mbps. I have just checked my speed using the EE speed checker which indicated I was receiving over 514mbps, however, I felt that was incorrect. I then checked my speed using an independent speed tester and it showed my speed 316mbps. Clearly a huge difference in speed. I feel that I will not get any satisfaction discussing this with EE, has anyone had any similar problems.

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.
Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

@jandhgillespie It can sometimes be the equipment you are testing with, also if it is a wired or wfi connection.
So what are yu using?

@jandhgillespie EE Speed test, 2 stage test by fast.con 1st is the speed down/up to the EE router, 2nd is the down/up to the device. Sample below.

I only use wifi. That said, I dont have lots going on during my tests. The big problem I see is that the EE speed test is way different from Ookla tests that I carry out around the same time.

Thanks, I didnt realise that , but it makes sense. That said I am finding that the EE test differs considerably to the Ookla test.

OOKLA test

@jandhgillespie It's completely up to you, the EE speed test will show you the speed to the router, if its up around your 500 mark and your device is not, then your device is the problem, not much more can be said about it, apart from find a better device to test with, or say what it is, both samples are on a samsung A54 mobile, and a Asus laptop wireless connected, same distance same router....
