You can't but you can lengthen the time before a call goes to VM under 1571's Personal Options > Calling Options, so that you can pick up the call 1st.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

@Wilf6 : There is no need to keep posting duplicate threads, particularly when you've already had a response, & it is indeed against Forum Guidelines

I too want rid of BT/EE voicemail. I JUST DO NOT WANT IT! It isn’t a service but a nuisance. Why can’t we have a choice? This is a democracy, isn’t it? Since being switched to Digital Voice, without my knowledge in March 2024 I’ve experienced endless problems with loss of ‘phone and broadband. The technical advice was, “just switch it all off for a few hours”.
THIS IS WHAT WE ARE PAYING FOR!

I have a medical condition and during a power cut I would lose ‘phone service. I was advised there was a battery backup  I could use. I had to pay for this battery……. it is quite weighty and about half the size of a modern car battery.

No real help from BT/EE.

I too wish to remove Voicemail from our Landline for medical reasons, if I need to make an emergency call I do not want Voicemail messages holding me up and interfering.  I find it extremely annoying, unwelcome and too many useless messages being rattled off.  We had a perfectly useful answer machine before changing providers and I wish to revert back to that.
We have been having problems with our main phone and the two slaves which are no longer working properly.

@Jacselby The VM Voicemails service is NOT getting removed by EE they have said so in other postings, you either have to use it or work around it whichever works best for you....

This is the link that you need to work with or work around whatever works best in your situation.

@Jacselby : There's no reason why VM should hold up you making an emergency call. You only listen to them when you choose by dialling 1571.

You can't turn landline 1571 VM service OFF but when you dial 1571 under Personal Options (2) > Calling Options (3) > Ring Period (2) there is an option to set the ring period to Short (4 rings), Medium (7 rings) or Long (10 rings) to give time for your own answering machine or yourself to pick it up.

Unfortunately that is not true, when I pick up the phone to make a call if there is Voicemail I get a busy signal and cannot make a call until after I have dialled 1571, listened to message or messages and deleted each one individually.

@Jacselby Does not sound right then, have you reported that exact way you are finding it all to EE CS, or do the PHONE to 66033 as a text and see if EE spots anything on you DV line connection. Voicemail left is just supposed to be the Intermittent tone to let you know that someone has left you the voice and to check when you need, you should be able to just dial out regardless off the VM being there.
