Guest WiFi lost DHCP on new Firmware r2.68.18-R-1303195-PROD-83002

I'm using the Smart Hub Plus SH31B on firmware: r2.68.18-R-1303195-PROD-83002

When trying to use the Guest WiFi network, has anyone else lost the ability to… well, use it? Seems that it is no longer receiving an IP Address from DHCP.

And as I believe this Guest WiFI feature is a re-purposed BT/EE-WiFi mechanism (in other words, they took away the EE-Wifi network, but the 'function' of providing it, software-wise, I believe was repurposed to provide a segregated network, hence when it was working the IP Addresses were very much like the EE-WiFi ones in the 10.0.0.0 IP range and seem to be part of the internal BT/EE network rather than the main DHCP of the router), it therefore won't and doesn't rely upon the DHCP of the main 'My Network' section.

So, is this just me, or are do other people experience the same no IP Address provided when trying to use the Guest Network on this newer firmware level?

Hi @WillKirk

Have you tried disabling Guest Wi-Fi via the app or the Hub's web interface, then re-enabling from scratch, to see if it solves your issue?

Hello @Dan-O , yes.

My issue really isn't that I don't know what I am doing, it is that I would like someone that also has a Smart Hub Plus and the same firmware level to also give it a go, and see if they get the same as I do (no DHCP given IP Address), or if they do receive an IP and have it working. Comparison contrast for troubleshooting and clarification.

So, if there is anyone using the Smart Hub Plus and is on the same firmware level, and they are willing to turn on the Guest Network to give it a try and report back, that would be immensely helpful.

(If on the other hand you have no idea what I am going on about, then though contributions to discussion are always welcome, likely will not be fruitful.)

@WillKirk Do you wish to test, all bands or does it matter, will do for you.

@JimM11  Hi. To be fair it doesn’t matter the bands. It’s just can you connect to the Guest Network, and does it provide an IP. In other words, is it a my router problem, in which case I’ll factory reset and see if I can convince it to work by threatening it with a paperclip — or, a latest firmware problem across the board, in which case I’ll just sit and wait patiently.

The good news is all the Digital Voice issues I was having appear, touch wood, to have been solved, so I don’t mind if there are a few residual bugs to be cleaned up elsewhere, especially on such a niche feature as the Guest Network, but… it would be good to know if my bug or everyone’s bug. 🙂

@WillKirk In your PM box and do have the same version if you need to see, updated about 4 day's ago. Jim

Both bands turned on, 2.4ghz followed my fixed channel 1. and the 5Ghz followed the smart channel 100.

And double checked because where the IP is then normal web manager cannot be reached.

Anything else let me know, will keep it up for you for a couple hours....

Hi @JimM11  —  I think that settles it then, it’s just my router! Right, time to tie it down and get out the paperclip!

Thanks for running that for me. Very helpful and what I was looking for.

@WillKirk No problems, i am a firm believer that Router back to Factory does he-haw, but do let me know if it works out.

What does that mean? What is the IP you see from a device connected to the Guest network?
