I am going away for about 10 days to stay with my sister in Cambs.I only  use my fibre connection for internet and the built in  WiFi for my smart phone.Might get a video doorbell set up soon, pensioner money permitting.

Will leaving it on be a potential fire hazard or will it be safe to leave on for any potential firmware updates.

It would be safe to leave it on. Indeed it is recommended to never turn it off.

If you have or will ever get any cameras, doorbells, alarms, smart speakers it would be useful for viewing your property from afar.
