Full Fibre installation delayed until November

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can give me some advice about a delayed EE Full Fibre installation.

I ordered Full Fibre 300 on 5 Aug, but the installation has been delayed several times. An Openreach engineer has already visited my property and completed the internal installation on 26 Aug, including installing the Openreach equipment inside the flat.

However, the engineer then found that additional external work is required. I was initially told around 22 metres of ducting was needed, and the latest update says approximately 24 metres of ducting is required from the existing duct. The job has now been passed to the Openreach Civils team.

The current target date I have been given is 2 Nov, with the next update expected on 3 Nov. So I could potentially be without fixed broadband for almost two months.

This is causing me quite a lot of difficulty because I regularly need to work from home. EE suggested that I use EE Openzone Wi-Fi, but I have tried this and the signal at my property is weak and unstable, with frequent disconnections.

What I would really like to know is:

  • Is it possible to have FTTC / Part Fibre broadband temporarily while I wait for the Full Fibre installation to be completed?
  • Would ordering FTTC affect or cancel my existing pending Full Fibre order?
  • Has anyone been in a similar situation where Civils work was required, and did it really take this long?

I understand that some external engineering work can take time, but waiting until November without a reliable fixed broadband connection is very difficult, especially when working from home.

Any advice or similar experiences would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

You can't order FTTC in areas where FTTP is available.

EE depends on OR to assess when & how FTTP can be installed at a property. This 1 looks like some extra work needs scheduling.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker > Address Checker estimate for your address? Post the whole table, the text below it and the line above it, blanking out your address.

The age old "what does the availability checker say" when the op knows ducting is required!

In essence they've put a november date so order stays open & doesn't auto cancel. Once work is completed can then be rebooked. FTTC cannot be ordered but you could maybe ask for a 4g hub in meantime instead

@garybs29 : It may say a bit more & then again it might not. No harm in asking!
